As the years have gone on, maybe it’s the wisdom that comes with age, or maybe it’s going through some things, I have realized that I don’t have to have an opinion about everything.
I used to scour the news and the markets for insights on real estate, mortgages, personal finance, politics, the news of the day, things happening in my local school district, local facebook group disputes, the direction Grey’s Anatomy was going, what the Fed would do next, who the Cubs should trade for, who the Bulls should hire or fire, etc
I realize nowadays, especially in our attention driven economy, I don’t have to engage in it all. In fact, more than ever my (and your) attention is a valuable commodity being traded on! More importantly, anything I pay attention to might be taking bandwidth away from something I really would prefer to do with my time and energy. My business, my hobbies, my relationships, my peace.
So this week, for your consideration, ask yourself the following as things cross your mind, your desk and your feed: Do I really need to have an opinion about this?
