The Devil is in the details

Oddly, one of the things that is tough to do is to self analyze. How many times have you thought that you realized something about yourself, an area to improve and were amazed at your powers of self discovery. Only later, friends, family or colleagues let you in on the fact that they knew, and did not like thing about you….only they were too polite to say anything.

Well the same thing can happen to businesses. In fact, one of the improvements that we set on here at America’s Mortgage Choice is to constantly get better with our processes. This helps us get better interest rates, to the closing table faster, with fewer headaches for each of our customers. But there is always room for improvement.

Over the last month several changes have been implemented. At the time of the change, it seemed like a brilliant idea. Any idea whose discovery and implementation was a revelation, only it wasn’t to most of the people in the chain we work with. They saw the challenges and are glad we implemented changes. I only wish that we could have been told sooner.

It’s truly amazing, for example, what can happen when cover letters explaining any and all quirks in a loan application are part of the underwriting package. Instead of being in a meeting where two underwriters are asking “why is this property a flip and nobody said anything” answers can be provided. In fact, once that explanation was provided, we went from a file suspended and ten days of underwriter review to final conditions in a day.

It’s the little things. We ask you if you are working with us as a client, Realtor or other professional and you have questions or concerns, ask. We may be standing too close to see what you see from where you are standing. Thanks, anything to get better!
