Time Kills Deals

Financial StressAs you may know, I recently switched employers. It’s funny because as much of a pain as that can be on some levels, moving your license, changing logins and passwords and making sure everything works it also is not all that big of a deal. The mortgage business “is what it is” and at the end of the day there are certain truths that exist no matter the company.

The biggest truth in the business is that time kills deals! In my new role, I have had the chance to do two things in the last thirty days. First, we cleaned up and sent a bunch of loans to closing that had been stagnating. That’s a nice result and a good impact to have. The second though is we had to take about a million dollars in loans that COULD possibly have funded at some point and shoot them. A couple of them had been here since July and had still not closed.

Guess what, they are NOT CLOSING and pretending you have a pipeline is worse than having no pipeline. Time kills deals. Close what you have and move on!
